Getting Power for accessories

Postby Jfisher » Thu Jul 13, 2006 1:52 pm

My son purchased an ipod docking station for his car stereo. I have not install any stereo equip since the 70's so how do you hook the power into the new fuse boxes? I looked at the fuse box but I do not see how you can hook any new connections into it. His car is a 2007 chevy cobalt.

Thanks

Look for a small square opening with two metal teeth inside. The metal teeth can be separated to hold a power wire tight (with a connector). The opening will be labeled Power, PWR or ACC. You can also check the manual for a diagram of the fuse box. Not all cars come with extra power hook-ups in which case you have to run an inline fuse and wire from your battery.
