conneectiing a dvc subwoofer to a amplifier

Postby franyel » Thu May 25, 2006 9:36 am

I have recently bought a pioneer ts-w3004spl subwoofer and a prs-d3000spl amplifier, however when connecting the both voice coils the sub peaks out at average volume ....i tried connecting one coil to the amplifier and the subwoofer plays excellent, but pioneer do not recomend a single coil playing rather the two coils .

can anybody explain what is going on ? why can't i play the both coils even if the the amp is specified for the subwoofer.

Do you have your subwoofer wired parallel? A diagram can be found at http://www.discountcaraudio.net/parallelseries.html. Are you wiring the voice coils directly into the amplifier? Or do you first wire them into the connector in the subwoofer box? If yes how many connectors on your subwoofer box?
